Progressive Rock

Self-released · 23 October 2026
Chercán are five musicians from Valdivia, in southern Chile, and “Canto de silicio” is their second album. They released it on 23 October on their Bandcamp, where it’s streaming in full: twelve tracks, from “Pareidolia” to “La evolución”, four of them interludes titled with a symbol. Martín Peña Alacid sings and plays guitars and Kaoss Pad; Roberto Faúndez Morales plays electric, acoustic and twelve-string guitars; Pablo Barría González bass and Korg Monologue synth; Matías Bahamondes Martínez alto, tenor and soprano saxophones and flute; and Rodrigo González Mera drums, percussion and synths. The credits give González Mera the idea and musical concept, and share the production between him and the band.
The basic tracks were recorded at Estudio Monteranco in Futrono, with further parts in Valdivia and Santiago; Jorge Fortune mixed the album in Coyhaique and Carlos Barros mastered it at Isla Negra Producciones. Strings join on three tracks: Benjamín Ruz Guzmán, who arranged and conducted them and plays the violin parts, Braulio Rivas Tapia on viola and Sebastián Fierro Neira on cello. The band’s previous album, “Chercán”, came out on 4 March 2025 with nine tracks; Simón Catalán was on bass then.
