Stereophrenics’ first full-length album, according to the Geneva progressive metal band, tells the story of someone who, worn out by the demands of the real world, retreats into sleep and imagination and builds an inner universe there: a refuge so absorbing it threatens to take over. “Paracosm 2.0” is out digitally and has eight tracks, from “Hypnagogia” to “Oneiric”, among them “State of Paradox”, which the band had put out ahead of the album as a single. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Serge Moratel at REC Studio in Geneva.
Before this album, Stereophrenics had released two EPs, “Why The Leaves Do Not Fall In Autumn ?” (2017) and “Reverso” (2022), the two-track session “Punk Me/Burning Desire” (2018) and the single “Spotlight” (2021). The current line-up is Elisa Colacioppo on vocals, Thijs Kos on bass and backing vocals, Gio on guitar, Nico on keyboards and Val on drums. The band say the arrival of Colacioppo and Kos sharpened their move from progressive rock towards metal with symphonic and gothic influences. The band had announced a release-eve show at L’Ecurie on 15 October, playing the album in full, with DANA and Edge of Infinity.
