Self-released · 30 July 2026

“Music From The Bag”, by guitarist and composer David Kollar, came out digitally on his Bandcamp on 30 July 2026. It has nine tracks, closing with “When The Bag Is Empty”; Kollar wrote the music and plays guitars, basses, synths and piano, as well as handling the programming. As he explains it, the album collects ideas he had been gathering over the last ten years, meant for his solo records rather than for KOMARA or his projects with trumpeter Arve Henriksen.

Most of them called for drums, which was one of the reasons they had been left unfinished. Kollar says that in the winter of 2025 he decided to open that imaginary “bag” and use artificial intelligence as a tool to find new rhythms: he turned recordings of Arve Henriksen’s trumpet and of frame-drum strikes, among others, into drum parts, ran some six hundred experiments and picked nine pieces. The credits put it this way: the drums were created through experiments with artificial intelligence, then programmed, layered and produced by Kollar. On his Bandcamp, which lists him in Prague, his previous release is the soundtrack to the film “Kuko, Drobček & Raťafák znovu zasahujú” (12 July 2026). Before that came the three EPs of the “Guitar Stories” series (November and December 2025) and the album “CALLS” (1 May 2025).
