Steve Vai

Steven Siro Vai (Carle Place, 6 June 1960) is an American guitarist, composer and record producer who has sold more than 15 million albums. After starting his career transcribing music for Frank Zappa, Vai recorded and toured with Zappa’s band from 1980 to 1982. He launched his solo career in 1983, has released eight solo albums, and has won three Grammy Awards. He has also recorded and toured with Public Image Ltd, Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth and Whitesnake. Vai has been a regular member of the G3 tour since it began in 1995. In 1999, Vai launched his own record label, Favored Nations, intended, in his own words, to showcase “… artists who have achieved the highest level of performance on their chosen instruments”. He ranks 10th on Guitar World magazine’s list of the greatest guitarists of all time.
