Justin K. Broadrick plays guitar and bass on “On Video”, the song that closes “Primetime”, Lance Oppenheim’s film in which Robert Pattinson plays Chris Hansen and Phoebe Bridgers co-stars. A24 Music released the soundtrack on 25 September, the day the film opened: the song plus twenty-four tracks of original score by Ari Balouzian.
“On Video” is written by Bridgers, Jack Antonoff and Christian Lee Hutson, and produced by Antonoff, Ethan Gruska and Marshall Vore, with additional production by Alex G. Caroline Shaw, Benny Bock and CJ Camerieri also appear. Bridgers played it live first in Chicago and again at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on 24 September.
It is the third time in six weeks that Broadrick has turned up on a Bridgers recording. The other two are “Bobby” and “Best Dressed”, from “Lost Weekend”, the album she released on 14 August. When it came out, and against headlines billing him as the Godflesh singer, Broadrick stated in writing that he appears “as jesu” and that Bridgers had sought him out for that project rather than the other one.
Godflesh, meanwhile, released “Decay” on that same 25 September.
