Jacklin writes guitar-and-voice songs built on very specific observations, singing in a way that sits half a step behind the band. “Don’t Let the Kids Win” (2016) is her debut and “Crushing” (2019) the album that established her outside Australia and set her reputation for emotional precision without added drama. She’s toured both with a full electric band and nearly solo, and the material holds up either way because the songs are built on very solid structures.
