Saturna release «Light and Shadow» on Wednesday 17 September. It’s the Barcelona band’s sixth record, out in Europe via Spinda Records and Discos Macarras Records, while in the United States it’s released by Ripple Music, the Californian heavy psych and stoner label.
They present it at home eight days later: Friday 25 September at Sala Laut, at Carrer de Vila i Vilà 63, from 8:30pm.
It’s thirteen tracks built around the duality that gives the record its title: light and dark, life and death, love and hate. They’d previewed «Self Told Lies» and «Absence». The band recorded it themselves in Barcelona in the summer of 2025, and it was mixed by Enric Verdaguer that autumn; Verdaguer isn’t some outside engineer, he’s the band’s own drummer. Mastering was done by Magnus Lindberg in Stockholm this past February.
The line-up is completed by James Vieco — vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards and percussion —, Max Eriksson on electric guitar, and Rod Tirado on bass. We reviewed their previous record, «The Reset» (2023), that December, and a month later we published an interview with the band.
