The Hillbilly Moon Explosion play Razzmatazz’s Sala 3 on Thursday 1 October. Doors at eight, show at half past, twenty euros plus fees in advance and twenty-four on the door. Entry to Salas 2 and 3 is via Carrer de Pamplona, 88.
The band is Swiss and formed in 1998, when singer Emanuela Hutter and double bassist Oliver Baroni, both coming from psychobilly bands, crossed paths at a Spanish festival. The line-up is rounded out by drummer Sylvain Petite and guitarist Duncan James.
Razzmatazz describes them as a blend of rockabilly, jump blues, beat, surf, psychobilly, French pop, ska and punk. Their debut, “Introducing the HME”, is from 2002 and was already full of covers: The Playboys, April March, The Shangri-Las.
Their most-watched video is for “My Love For Evermore”, a duet with Sparky, singer of Demented Are Go: it’s past six million views, and the single has been reissued seven times.
Their latest album is “Back In Time”, from February 2024. Entry is for over-sixteens only, or minors accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a signed authorisation.
