“Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT” came out on 2 October on SoundsGood Records with forty-seven songs, curated by DJ Dali. The cover is a drawing by Lalo Alcaraz.
Kathleen Hanna, Tom Morello, Fred Armisen and Jello Biafra are on it, along with a whole block from the Beastie Boys orbit: Ad-Rock, Money Mark, drummer Fredo Ortiz and Frank Figueroa.
Proceeds “will directly fund frontline powerhouses, including the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) and Unión del Barrio to defend labor rights and protect community-built wealth,” according to the announcement. NDLON is the US network of day labourer centres; Unión del Barrio is a grassroots organisation based in San Diego and Los Angeles.
The full track list hasn’t been published.
