Ian Paice has posted a 6:01 video on his DrumTribe channel with the drum take for «Arrogant Boy» recorded in the studio, camera fixed on the kit, the song playing all the way through. It’s the first single from «Splat!», released on 3 July through earMUSIC.
The album is the band’s twenty-fourth and the sixth in a row produced by Bob Ezrin, recorded with the band playing together in the studio. Paice is joined by bassist Roger Glover, keyboardist Don Airey, guitarist Simon McBride and singer Ian Gillan, who explained the song like this when it came out: “It’s the story of Billy, who couldn’t read or write. He’s not happy with the way things are, so he raises his voice and finds a way to needle the elite.”
The video comes with no introduction or interview: the camera doesn’t move and there’s no voice besides the song’s. In under a day it had passed 27,000 views.
