Rival Sons will start recording their new album in mid-January and don’t expect to have it finished before the end of 2027, guitarist Scott Holiday told Mark Strigl on SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard on 18 September. The date isn’t firm: it’s the interviewer who floats the end of 2027, and Holiday replies that he’s hoping for late summer or autumn.
“We’re right in it now. We’ve been doing bits here and there, but not what we normally do, which is lock ourselves in the studio and finish it in a month. That’s what we’ll do in January,” says Holiday. On when it’ll be out: “Once the business side gets its hands on it, things take a while. We’re hoping for late summer, or autumn.”
Drummer Michael Miley had already spoken about it: “It’s been really good getting back to writing and recording with my Rival Sons brothers. We’re at the start, and we’re doing this one differently, but I’m excited about what’s coming out of it.” The band’s last two albums, “Darkfighter” and “Lightbringer”, both came out in 2023.
Before that, the band has its American autumn tour, announced this past June, running October to November, with The Blue Stones and The Velveteers supporting on most dates. It starts in Boise and ends in Fort Wayne. No European dates have been announced.
