Rancid have opened pre-orders for a box set of “…And Out Come The Wolves” with two LPs and four seven-inches. The second LP, “Alive”, gathers demos and live recordings from 1995 to 2016 that have never been pressed on vinyl.
“Alive” brings back lost demos, the band’s 1995 BBC session and performances from San Francisco, Tokyo, Manchester and Montreal, among others. It was put together from the band’s own archives with help from two collectors who run Rancid archive accounts.
Of the four seven-inches, the one never heard before is a “Live In NYC” with “Roots Radical” and “Ruby Soho” recorded in November 1995, when the album was barely three months old. The other three reissue long out-of-print pressings of “Roots Radical”, “Ruby Soho” and “Time Bomb”, which until now were only available on “B Sides And C Sides”, the 2008 compilation reissued on vinyl in 2024.
The album came out on 22 August 1995 and reached number 45 on the Billboard 200; “Time Bomb” hit number 8 on the Modern Rock chart, “Ruby Soho” 13 and “Roots Radical” 27. The box is being sold as a 30th-anniversary edition — the thirty years came round last August — and the label places it in January, with no day yet.
