“An Unfolding Of Miracles” opens with “Song Of Acceptance (Thirty Years Earlier)”, two minutes and one second of solo acoustic guitar, and does not return to that tone until the sixth track. In between is the ground Nick Fletcher has worked for six years: instrumental jazz-rock fusion, nine pieces, forty-six minutes forty-five. It is his sixth solo album in six years and the second running to come out of reading Carl Jung, after “The Mask of Sanity” (2025).
Fletcher plays guitars, guitar synth and something credited as Angel Vibe Guitar, plus the bass on the second track; the rest of the bass, fretted and fretless, is Jonathan Ihlenfeld Cuniado’s, and the drums are Roberto Porto’s. The keyboards are split between two people who never overlap: Tomasz Bura on tracks two and three only, and Caroline Bonnett, who also supplies the loops, everywhere else. “Light Of Becoming”, at 7:43, is the longest piece here and “To Be Seen, To Be Heard”, at 6:46, the third longest, and they are precisely the two places where Bura appears: the keyboard reinforcement is spent early and then dispensed with.
The only voice on the record turns up as it is ending. Olga Karpova, credited as Dikajee, contributes vocalisations and does not enter until “Only Now In Dreams part 2”, the closing three minutes fifty; part 1 of the same piece, in sixth place, is instrumental. A colour nobody has heard in forty-three minutes gets its debut on the last track, and the Jung frame stays entirely in the titles and the press text: none of the nine pieces carries it into the sound.
The album comes out with no label. Fletcher has recorded two albums with the John Hackett Band.
