Klone will release “The Moon Is Witness” on 12 March 2027 via V2 Records. It’s the Poitiers band’s first record for the label, following several years on Kscope and their last album, “The Unseen”, released by Pelagic Records in 2024. The first single, “Unchained”, premiered on 23 October with a visualiser by Inès Bourdja of Vanta Visuals Studio.
Guitarist Guillaume Bernard says the song was called “Élan” while they were writing it. “That’s exactly what the music evoked for me: a sense of movement, energy and freedom,” he says. “It’s a pretty dynamic track, with quite a few little surprises along the way, and we really played with contrasts.”
The album has nine tracks and reunites the band with Francis Caste, who produced “Le Grand Voyage” in 2019. It was recorded, mixed and mastered at Studio Sainte-Marthe in Paris. Three guests appear: Arnaud Roy on harp on “Wavering”, “Mirage” and the instrumental “Moonlight”; cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne, known for his work with Leprous, on “Mirage”; and Coroner guitarist Tommy Vetterli on “Molt”.
Singer and lyricist Yann Ligner says the Moon of the title becomes “a witness to the most beautiful things in human beings, but also the darkest”, and that he wanted to write from that distance “to look differently at our choices, flaws and contradictions, without trying to explain or judge them”.
Before that, from 15 to 22 November, the band play six shows in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Poland with HamaSaari opening, including Zik-Zak in Ittre on the 17th and Bi Nuu in Berlin on the 22nd.
