Joanne Shaw Taylor releases “The Trouble With Love” on Friday 23 October through Journeyman Records, Joe Bonamassa’s label, where she was the first signing. There are ten tracks, Kevin Shirley produces, and it is the Birmingham guitarist’s first full-length since “Heavy Soul”, from June 2024.
Bonamassa sings on the title track and Orianthi on “What Good Is My Love?”. The other tasters have been spread across the year: “Hell Or High Water” in January, “This Is Who I Am” in May and “Tired Of Being Right” in June.
The latest, out yesterday with a lyric video, is called “You And Me (Rachel’s Song)”, and Shaw Taylor introduces it in six words: “A song for my best friend Rachel.” “It’s the big moments that always feel small / Until you look back / Then they’re the ones you wish you could stall,” she sings, before an ending that arranges to meet the friend at the Met in five years.
The autumn North American tour starts on 28 October in Albuquerque, with Bywater Call on some dates and Robert Jon & The Wreck — also on Journeyman — on others.
