Hällas play Sala Upload on Friday 16 October, with France’s Komodor opening the bill. Doors are at 7.30pm, the show starts at 8pm and tickets cost €28. Last Tour promotes it and tickets are sold through Fever.
There are three Spanish dates and Barcelona is the first: the next night they play Sala Nazca in Madrid and on the 18th Kafe Antzokia in Bilbao. It is the only Catalan date. The promoter bills it as the band’s first headline club tour here, after their appearance at the Azkena Rock Festival in Vitoria this year.
They arrive with “Panorama”, their fourth album, released on 30 January through their own label, Äventyr Records. There are five tracks, and the first, “Above the Continuum”, runs twenty-one and a half minutes: if they play it whole, the Upload night opens with almost half the record in a single piece. The other four — “Face of an Angel”, “The Emissary”, “Bestiaus” and “At the Summit” — sit between four and a half and six and three quarter minutes. The previous album, “Isle of Wisdom”, came out on Napalm in 2022.
The quintet formed in 2011 in Jönköping and describes itself as “adventure rock”. Tommy Alexandersson sings and plays bass, with Rickard Swahn and Marcus Petersson on guitars, Nicklas Malmqvist on organ and synthesizers and Kasper Eriksson on drums.
Komodor are from Douarnenez, at the tip of Brittany, and bring “Time & Space”, their second album, out in January. Once the three dates with Hällas are done they carry on alone: Santiago de Compostela on the 20th, Zaragoza on the 22nd, Avilés on the 23rd and Vitoria on the 24th.
