Erik Truffaz «Rollin’ & Clap!»

Erik Truffaz invites us to immerse ourselves in his latest offering, «Rollin’ & Clap!», and does so by returning to the Terrassa Jazz Festival two decades after his last appearance there with «Mantis». This trumpeter, originally from Switzerland and now a naturalised Frenchman, is in the midst of an extensive European tour, taking his art to countries such as France, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Switzerland, before landing in Spain for an exclusive show in Terrassa.

We’re looking at an artist whose versatility and eclectic direction have defined his career. With jazz always the backbone of his artistic expression, Truffaz has explored many creative paths, from collaborations with electronic music to forays into world music and subtle Arabic influences, such as those found on «Mantis» with Tunisian singer Munir Trudir, all the way to fusions with rock.

His stage debut in 2003, at the Nova Jazz Cava, was a resounding success that earned him recognition from critics and fans alike. Truffaz, both as trumpeter and composer, reveals himself as an extraordinary improviser capable of transcending boundaries. It was in 1999, with «Bending New Corners», his first work under the Blue Note label, that he experienced a turning point, establishing himself as the leading exponent of electro jazz, inspired by figures such as Miles Davis, hip hop and electronic music.
