ECM · 6 November 2026
Four days before the last night of his final European solo tour, Keith Jarrett played the Sala Santa Cecilia at Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica. That was 12 July 2016; ECM released the recording as “Roma” on 6 November 2026 (ECM 2880, on CD and double LP), the fifth and final concert from that tour to reach the label’s catalogue.
There are twelve tracks. The first ten, “Roma, Part I” through “Roma, Part X”, are improvisations credited to Jarrett, and the opener runs past ten minutes. The concert closes with two standards ECM describes as encore favourites: Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and Charles Kisco and Harry Tobias’s “It’s a Lonesome Old Town”. Jarrett played both again four days later in Munich, on the tour’s last night. Three tracks had already been released to streaming services, where the full album can now be heard: “It’s a Lonesome Old Town” on 11 September, “Roma, Part V” on 2 October and “Roma, Part VI” on 23 October.
The other four nights of the tour were already in ECM’s catalogue: “Munich 2016” (ECM 2667/68, 2019), “Budapest Concert” (ECM 2700/01, 2020), “Bordeaux Concert” (ECM 2740, 2022) and “New Vienna” (ECM 2850, 2025), recorded at the Musikverein. According to the CD credits, Martin Pearson engineered the recording, Christoph Stickel mastered it and Jarrett produced it himself, with Manfred Eicher as executive producer.
