Devin Townsend will release “Harmonic Dharma” on Friday 16 October on streaming platforms, under the DreamPeace name. He announced it on 10 October, World Mental Health Day.
The record already existed as an object before the announcement: a limited CD edition was sold on the European “Metamorphosis” tour, twenty-three acoustic and storytelling shows across ten countries that has just finished. Any copies left over are being offered to his Patreon community first.
“This is music to create balance within oneself and the world,” Townsend says. “As you guys know, making ‘The Moth’ album was so creatively and logistically ambitious, it took me mentally to a challenging place on so many occasions. After it was completed, I went on retreat for a month to re-center myself. This DreamPeace album is one of the many nourishing harvests from that much needed spiritual journey.”
DreamPeace is the name Townsend uses for sleep music. He has struggled with insomnia for years and started the project for himself and for anyone with the same problem. “My aim with this music is to provide a soundtrack for anxious minds,” he adds. “And I sincerely hope it brings you the peace it has brought me.”
“The Moth”, the orchestral work all of this comes out of, was performed live in March 2025 and released earlier this year.
