Crown Lands have released “Casting Stones”, a three-track EP —“Casting Stones”, “All I Need” and “The Revenants II”— cut during the sessions for “Apocalypse”, the album the Canadian duo put out on 15 May through InsideOut Music.

“Casting Stones is a very important song to me,” says Cody Bowles, the band’s singer and drummer. “When I went through a tough period in my life a couple years back, someone came to attack my identity, my character and my lived experience, assuming the worst intentions of me. Through that difficult, existential experience, I learned a lot about who I was as an individual, inside and out, and realized that I am a lot more resilient than I once thought.”

Bowles says it was the first song to come out of the initial batch written for “Apocalypse” and that it never made the record because, in narrative terms, it had nothing to do with Karagon or The Syndicate, the threads running through it.

The “Apocalypse” deluxe edition arrives on 11 December as a two-CD digipak and a digital album. The second disc carries the whole EP, four tracks taped live at Chalet Studios and a live reading of the album’s nineteen-minute title track with the duo expanded by two more players.

The band play eight shows around Ontario between 29 October and 21 November. Nothing has been announced in Europe.
