The project of Scottish trombonist and producer Liam Shortall, corto.alto, performs at La Nau on Tuesday 20 October, doors at 20:00, show at 20:30, part of Piñata Music’s programme.
He arrives with “SOME SMALL FORTUNE”, released on 4 September 2026 on Ninja Tune, his first album with a major label after years of self-releasing. The method stays the same: tracks built like hip-hop productions, with loops, sudden cuts and bass dominating the mix, but played by musicians who genuinely improvise.
The tour bringing him to Barcelona is the biggest he’s done so far, closing on 28 January 2027 at the Barrowlands in Glasgow, his home city. There, in just a few years, a circuit of young musicians has grown that has taken Scottish jazz out of the club and put it in contact with electronic music and nightlife.
