Bernard Allison released “Time Traveler” today, the latest advance from “Loving You”, the ten-song album Ruf Records puts out on 16 October. Two guest guitarists play on the track, Larry McCray and Matthew Mwangi.
The label describes a driving staccato rhythm and a fresh funk reading, and presents it as Allison at his grooviest. The other track released from the album so far is “Left Me With My Guitar”.
Allison is Luther Allison’s son, played guitar in his father’s band and spent time in Koko Taylor’s band before recording under his own name. Ruf has carried him since the nineties.
“Loving You” arrives four years after “Highs & Lows”, released on 25 February 2022.
