Moonspell are launching their own festival to celebrate the band’s 35th anniversary. It’s called Moonfest, and the first edition will take place on 30 October 2027 at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, with Amorphis, Zeal & Ardor, Towards The Sinister and Heavenwood. Heavenwood will open the night and Moonspell will close it, with what they’re billing as the biggest production of their career.
The official announcement came on 2 November, after two sold-out nights at the Hard Club in Porto, the Invicta Halloween shows, where flyers hinting at the festival had already been handed out. According to the band’s statement, carried by the Lusa news agency, Moonspell are “launching the first edition of their own festival, focusing as much on the quality and originality of the bands on the bill as on a fair price and the audience’s comfort”. The band picked the line-up themselves.
Towards The Sinister is a project by founding members of My Dying Bride. Heavenwood, Portuguese like their hosts, are marking thirty years since their debut album, “Diva”, the same year they’ve returned with new music.
General admission costs €50 and Golden Circle €75, with a festival T-shirt included. An exclusive FNAC presale opened on 6 November at 10am Lisbon time and runs for 72 hours; general sale opens on 9 November at the same time.
Before that, Moonspell will play the “God Is A Vampire” tour: forty shows in nineteen countries from 4 March to 18 April 2027, with Iotunn and TodoMal. The Barcelona date is 14 March at Razzmatazz 2.
