“Firesky”, Konvent’s third full-length, has a new name in the guitar credits: Amira Liv Hernan. Napalm Records released it on 6 November, and it’s streaming in full on the band’s Bandcamp. It has five tracks and lasts just over forty-one minutes: “Exorcise”, “Scorning”, “In the Unknown”, which at almost twelve minutes is the longest, “Firesky” and “Postludium”, which comes in under three. The title track features Mai Soon Young Øvlisen, as credited in the tracklist. “Exorcise” and “Firesky” were the album’s two advance singles.
The line-up in the credits is Rikke Emilie List on vocals, Amira Liv Hernan on guitar and backing vocals, Heidi Withington Brink on bass and Julie Simonsen on drums. On “Call Down the Sun”, according to the label’s notes, guitar was handled by Sara Helena Nørregaard. Jacob Bredahl produced and recorded the album at Antfarm Studios and mixed it at Dead Rat Studios. It was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, as was its predecessor. The cover art is by Nona Limmen and the photos are by Martin Goltermann.
Konvent formed in Copenhagen in 2015. After a demo in 2017, they debuted on Napalm with “Puritan Masochism”, released on 24 January 2020, followed by “Call Down the Sun” on 11 March 2022, recorded and mixed by Lasse Ballade at Ballade Studios in Sweden. “Firesky” arrives almost four years and eight months after that second album.
