Season of Mist announced on 22 October that Mar de Grises have re-signed with the label, which will release their fourth album next year. Neither a title nor a date has been given, and the statement says more is coming soon.
So far the only thing out is a teaser on YouTube.
“After more than a decade of absence, we are thrilled to announce that Mar de Grises have re-signed with the legendary record label Season of Mist”, the band say. “Once again, with our new album, we are pushing the boundaries of genre. These new songs are dark and cinematic, born from the contrasts of Chile’s landscape, which stretches from the Andes to the Pacific, from the Atacama Desert to Tierra del Fuego.”
The band formed in Chile in 2000 and started out on the Finnish label Firebox Records. According to Season of Mist, they were the first South American band to sign to it. Their third album, “Streams Inwards”, came out on Season of Mist in 2010, and on the back of it they toured with Sólstafir, Swallow the Sun and Saturnus and played festivals alongside Opeth, Enslaved and Katatonia.
On 30 October they headline Cryptic Celebration VII at the Teatro Cariola in Santiago, and on 1 November they open for Opeth at the Movistar Arena in the same city. Those are the only two dates the label announces.
