Wendy Eisenberg released “Wweennddyy Eeiisseennbbeerrgg” on 21 October on Joyful Noise. It is two songs, runs 46:09, and both come from the self-titled album the guitarist and singer put out on 3 April: the companion runs 46:09 and the self-titled album, with ten songs, ran 43:57.

The two are “Mmeeaanniinngg Bbuussiinneessss”, at 37:05, and “Tthhee Wwaallllss”, at 9:04: on the self-titled album they ran 4:18 and 4:40. The titles double every letter, as the album’s does. Eisenberg plays guitar and sings, with Trevor Dunn on bass, Mari Rubio on violin and Ryan Sawyer on drums. Rubio also mixed it; Andrea Schiavelli engineered and Andrew Weathers mastered.

“I want to write songs that feel infinite. I want to write songs that transcend their production, that can weather the changes,” says Eisenberg, who describes the result as an experiment in which “the form is maintained but sections elide, become solos, become worlds”. And the effect is simple to state: returning to the chorus feels different after fifteen minutes than it does after a minute and a half.

In the label’s shop the companion is listed in digital only, at nine dollars, while April’s self-titled album is sold there on vinyl, CD and digital.
