Stoned Jesus release “Songs to Moon” today through Season of Mist. It runs to seven songs and is the second chapter of the trilogy the Kyiv trio opened with “Songs to Sun” in 2025. It comes out on CD digipak and on four vinyl pressings, one of them marbled in blood-moon colours.
“While still heavy and catchy, Songs to Moon follows a similar trajectory to Led Zeppelin III, Opeth’s Damnation or Jar of Flies,” says Igor Sydorenko, who started the band in 2009. “The songs are recognizably Stoned Jesus, but they are bolder, more haunting and introspective than anything we’ve done before.” The label sums up the record’s span as going from post-metal screaming to one man and an acoustic guitar.
Three tracks came out ahead of it: “Velvet”, with a video by Mykyta Donets, “Under the Skin” and “Jackal”, which the label’s note calls a mini-prog-opera. The recording line-up is Sydorenko, bassist Andrew Rodin and drummer Yurii Ciel; live, the drums are Ihor Biriuchenko’s.
The third album already has a name and a shape: it will be called “Songs to Earth”, it will hold only two twenty-minute songs and the band expect it in the autumn of 2027.
They played Catalonia last April: on the 9th, at Razzmatazz 2, on a tour shared with Wheel and the Belgians Ice Sealed Eyes, the only Barcelona date of that run.
