Satanic Planet premiered “Antichrist” on 14 October, a fifteen-minute short film written and directed by Carl Fry and Maxwell Nalevansky and produced by Caroline Lawton. It is the third advance track from “Dead Deities”, the band’s second album, which Relapse Records releases on 30 October on vinyl, CD, cassette and digital.
Three of the four members appear in it: Justin Pearson plays The Priest, Luke Henshaw The Cop and Lucien Greaves Death. The cast is completed by Luke Wilcox, Martina Victoria and Jinx Leavitt. The song is the album’s second track.
The band is made up of Greaves, co-founder of The Satanic Temple; Henshaw, of Planet B; Pearson, of The Locust and Deaf Club; and drummer Dave Lombardo. “Dead Deities” holds eleven songs and the label presents it as the first record the four of them worked on together in the studio; the self-titled debut dates from 2021.
The earlier advance tracks are “Sam Alito’s Mom”, from 26 August, and “Church Burning”. The lyrics deal with authoritarianism, Christian nationalism and inequality, and the titles include “Headless Man”, “Ammosexual” and “Satan’s Spawn”.
