Enter Shikari have released “Higher Ground” with no announcement. It is their first new track since “Lose Your Self”, the album they put out the same way in April: twelve tracks on So Recordings, no warning.
“Our music has often been about zooming out,” says singer Rou Reynolds. “Looking at the bigger picture on things gives us perspective, clarity, and often a strange calm in today’s relentless and difficult times.” He wrote it during the “Lose Your Self” sessions, he explains, but it struck him as its own thing: he parked it and finished it off over the spring and summer.
The European arena tour runs in November: it starts on the 3rd at the Sporthalle in Hamburg and on the 6th reaches the Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf, which, at 7,500 capacity, will be the band’s biggest ever German headline show; the UK leg opens on the 13th at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, with Holding Absence and The Callous Daoboys supporting. Before that, this month, they play two small warm-up shows, the first since they announced on 1 October that the band stops at the end of 2027. “Higher Ground” is the first song they have released since that announcement.
