Festival announcement of Mick Gordon as the 2027 Radar Festival headliner

Radar Festival has opened the bill for its 2027 edition, which runs from 30 July to 1 August and changes home: it moves to Magna, a former steelworks turned science adventure centre that the festival places at Magna Way, Sheffield.

Among the names announced are Textures, Arcane Roots, Conjurer, Volumes, Unprocessed, The Algorithm, Leeched, Allt, Vower, Avralize, Karmanjakah, Cold Night For Alligators and Brightshade, along with XO Armor, Revnoir, TheBoyShadow, Every Hell, Worn Out, Blood Lament and Your Personal Vendetta.

The headliner was announced earlier and is Mick Gordon, the composer of the “Doom” soundtrack, who will take it to the stage in full for the first time: with the DOOM Machine, the instrument he built himself, a full live band and an orchestra. The festival puts it this way: “This isn’t a DJ set, and it isn’t a tribute act. It’s the actual composer, the actual score — the riffs played properly loud in a room that can withstand all the ripping and tearing.”

Of the two stages, the second is the one up against the old building: “Ever watched a band against the backdrop of an old steelworks? Thought not….until now.” The festival keeps the music and gaming market it introduced in 2023 and the masterclass programme with musicians from the bill.

The festival says this is the fastest-selling edition it has ever had. Tier 2 tickets are close to selling out, tier 3 carries fifteen per cent off the full price, and there is a six-month payment plan of six instalments of £25, open until 31 December.
