The Valencian bassist presents «VIVACE», his second album, on one of only three Spanish tour dates

Vincen García plays La (2) de Apolo on Saturday 7 November. Doors open at half past seven and the show starts at half past eight. Advance tickets are 25 € plus fees, 30 € on the door. It’s run by Piñata Music.

He’s presenting “VIVACE”, his second album, released on 13 January this year: eleven songs with guitarist Jack Gardiner, singer Bárbara López, Andreew and Lorenzo Ceci, and García’s own voice on “Let’s Do It” and “New Home”. His debut, “Ventura”, is from September 2023.

García was born in Valencia in 1992, into a family of musicians — his mother sings, his father plays trumpet — and taught himself bass. He started out with the funk-rock band Funkiwis.

He broke into the international circuit in 2023, on his own initiative: he wrote to guitarist Cory Wong, who was already following him on Instagram, to offer himself as bassist, and it turned out Wong had just lost his own bassist three days before a European tour. Wong passed him his tour manager’s number and booked him in two days later. García had forty-eight hours to learn between forty and fifty songs. Since then he’s played the Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz and Finland’s Pori Jazz.

Piñata is advertising the Spanish tour as “just three cities”. Its listing shows two: this one and 14 November at the Auditori of the Roig Arena in Valencia. The third hasn’t been announced.
