Pendragon stop in Barcelona on a short tour, while they prepare the new album

Pendragon perform at Apolo 2 on Tuesday 3 November, at eight in the evening, tickets 45 € on the door. The show is part of the Whistle Stop Tour, a short six-date run through the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain and Luxembourg: Southampton (30 October), Zoetermeer (1 November), Barcelona (3rd), Madrid (4th) and Dudelange (7th). The date is run by Neverland Concerts.

The tour isn’t presenting any album: the band is touring while recording the follow-up to “Love Over Fear” (2020), expected in 2027. The set is therefore a career overview: long tracks, heavily melodic guitar — closer to David Gilmour than the virtuoso school — and a tone somewhere between melancholic and epic that hasn’t changed much in substance since the eighties.

Pendragon formed in 1978 and came out of the same British crop as Marillion and IQ, the one that reopened prog in the early eighties when everyone had already declared it dead. They’ve released eleven studio albums, the last in 2020, and have never stopped touring Europe, where the bulk of their audience is. Nick Barrett, guitarist and singer, is the only member who’s been there since the start.
