Firewind have announced their eleventh studio album: «Gods, Myths & Titans» comes out 19 February 2027 via BLKIIBLK, the Frontiers group’s metal label. The first preview is «The Legend of Achilles», released with a lyric video.
It’s a concept album about Greek mythology, twelve tracks: «Prologue Sacrifice», «Firegod», «I Will Sail On», «The Legend of Achilles», «Cries of a Mortal», «Queen of the Underworld», «Prelude The Chosen One», «Under Aegean Skies», «A King Dethroned», «Unbreakable», «Titans Fall» and «Epilogue». Felipe Machado has provided a different illustration for each song.
«We’d wanted to make a concept album about Greek mythology for a long time, and we finally got around to it,» says guitarist Gus G. «We spent two years on it, and the goal was to make the most epic record in the band’s history. Adding cinematic and orchestral elements to our classic metal sound has given it a whole new layer. Every track is a door into a different myth.»
Gus G formed Firewind in Thessaloniki in 1998, is its only original member, and between 2009 and 2017 was Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist, recording «Scream» (2010) with him.
Henning Basse returned to the band in 2025, after an earlier stint in which he sang on «Immortals» (2017); the previous record, «Stand United» (2024), was sung by Herbie Langhans. Rounding out the line-up are Petros Christodoulidis, on bass since 2003, and Johan Nunez, on drums since 2011.
This month the band tour the United States and Canada supporting Ensiferum, with no European dates announced. Also on the cards is a return to the ProgPower festival, still without a date.
