Morris Kolontyrsky, guitarist and co-founder of Blood Incantation, will release his second solo album, “Source Material Vol. 1”, on 19 February through UK label Phantom Limb. “The Mysterious Alignment”, the third of its five tracks, is already streaming; “Radial Depth” and “Hope Could Exist” open the album, and “Acoustic Event” and “Planetary Memory – Ether Steps” close it.

It’s ambient music for guitar and analogue synths, written and recorded at his home in Denver between the band’s tours. “I wanted to create a hazy-dreamlike state to lose oneself within,” Kolontyrsky writes. “The material is of course still very atmospheric in nature but there is something to grasp onto within each track, like the running waters in the central theme of the record.” The label points to 1970s German ambient records as a reference.

The music was first played live last summer at Steve Roach’s SoundQuest festival, and according to the label that performance helped shape the album’s structure and running order.

Roach was already in the credits of “Origination”, Kolontyrsky’s debut, released by Projekt Records in October 2025. Blood Incantation had made their own turn towards ambient in 2022 with “Timewave Zero”.
