Limitation can be a creative force in a world where everything feels possible, and for a young Liam Shortall, this mix of influences and opportunities was as varied as anyone’s. Born in Glasgow and surrounded by music from an early age, he initially gravitated towards instrumental music, picking up the trombone, learning the fundamentals of jazz and taking in the big band, blues and ska sounds around him at home.

We enjoyed two sets. The first one allowed a bit more room for improvisation. It’s a tight, impeccable band that at moments brings to mind Snarky Puppy. Their level is remarkable, both as a collective and individually.
