Temperance have released “The Fool”, with a video, as the fourth and final advance track from “Arcani”, out on 16 October through Napalm Records. The Italian band’s own discography numbers it as their eighth album — Napalm’s press release calls it the seventh — and it is their first studio album since “Hermitage – Daruma’s Eyes Pt. 2”, from 20 October 2023.
Each of the thirteen songs is named after a card of the Major Arcana: “The Fool”, “The Magician: Into the Fire”, “Death: Right Before We Die”, “The Tower: Lean Into Fear”, “The Devil: Sin, Sin, Sin”, “Temperance: Forgiveness”, “The Chariot: Alla Ricerca dell’America”, “Justice: Shame & Glory”, “The Star: Surrender Control”, “Wheel of Fortune: Come and Call Me”, “The Moon: The Man of Moonlight”, “The Hanged Man: Petrichor” and “The World”.
“The final single leading up to Arcani, ‘The Fool’, has a rather unique story behind it. I received these lyrics from Kristin, and built the entire song around them,” guitarist Marco Pastorino explains.
The three earlier singles came one at a time: “The Devil: Sin, Sin, Sin” on 1 July, alongside the album announcement; “Death: Right Before We Die” in early August; and “The Tower: Lean Into Fear” in September. Kristin Starkey and Michele Guaitoli share vocals, and the line-up is completed by Pastorino (guitar and vocals), Luca Negro (bass) and Marco Sacchetto (drums). Starkey and Sacchetto joined on 26 June 2023, less than four months before “Hermitage” came out.
Temperance play Barcelona five weeks after “Arcani” is out: on Saturday 21 November at Razzmatazz, opening the night for Kamelot with Exit Eden.
