Simon Phillips has released the video for “Unstable Grounds”, the second one to come out of “Protocol 6”, the album that came out in June 2026 digitally and on CD. The video shows the whole track.
Phillips and guitarist Alex Sill wrote the track, and the drummer produced it. Ernest Tibbs plays electric bass, Otmaro Ruiz piano and keyboards, and Phillip Whack tenor saxophone.
It was recorded at Carbonite Sound in Ojai, California, with the piano recorded at Otmatik Sound in Santa Clarita. Phillips mixed it at Phantom Recordings, also in Ojai; Jason Mariani engineered and Richard Dodd mastered. Bryan Bihari produced and edited the video.
