Quiet Colors play Jamboree Sala 3 on Saturday 7 November in two sets: at seven in the evening and at a quarter to nine. General admission is €18, Amics del Jazz get 15% off, and the show is part of the 58th Barcelona Jazz Festival, which is also the promoter.
The duo is Polish singer and pianist Joanna Kucharczyk and Argentine percussionist Marcelo Woloski, both based in Barcelona. They play with no one else: piano and voice on one side, percussion on the other.
“It’s a fascinating musical universe,” Kucharczyk says. “This classic voice-and-piano combination becomes so special because of the percussion — or perhaps I should say the orchestral percussion — performed by Marcelo. Thanks to his immense imagination and creativity in orchestration and arranging, each song has its own universe.”
Woloski puts it from the other side: “Quiet Colors is a collaboration born out of the love and admiration Joanna and I have for each other, both humanly and musically. She brings together a beautiful combination of subtlety, groove, and musicality that makes anything she plays feel special.” The formula, in their own words, is “minimalistic and rich at the same time”, and above all “pays tribute to storytelling and lyrics as the essence and center of the songs”.
They had already played Jamboree on 18 November 2023. What they have released together is the EP “Why”, from May of that same year.
