Prong release a self-titled record on 6 November, their first for Napalm Records and their first since “State Of Emergency”, from October 2023. It’s eleven songs, thirteen on the CD with two bonus tracks, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap at his Backstage Studios.
The single previewing it is “Fear The Sun”. “I think we went back into time on this song,” says Tommy Victor, guitarist, singer and the band’s only constant member since he founded it in New York. “It’s a modernized version of the groove metal basics Prong laid a foundation for back with ‘Beg To Differ’.” That record is from 1990.
Victor calls it “a redefining episode” for the band: “This could be the best Prong album to date. It’s definitely the best-sounding Prong album ever, with the incredible Andy Sneap mixing and mastering it!” The opening track is called “The Banner”. Thirty-six years separate it from “Beg To Differ”.
