“Anemoia”, Northlane’s seventh album, was due on 30 October and will now come out on 27 November. The Sydney band put it down to production delays. It runs to ten tracks and they release it themselves through Immortal Music Group.
The second change affects the tour. The Australian and New Zealand dates move to May 2027 and tickets already bought remain valid. “Josh has been dealing with significant, rapidly worsening chronic health issues over the past two years,” the band’s statement says of guitarist Josh Smith, who needs immediate intervention and right now can neither travel nor perform.
The rest of the calendar stands: the UK and European tour with Dayseeker before the year is out, and the North American one in early 2027. The Melbourne listening party shifts to 20 November.
In return for the wait, Northlane have brought “Deathwish” forward. It is the fourth track known from the album, after “Evian” (April), “CUT_it” (August) and “Crucified”, and the other six are “Pierce The Sky”, “NEED2FEEL”, “S∈GA”, “The Otherside”, “Start Again” and the title track.
When the album was announced, singer Marcus Bridge said of it that “there’s darkness here, but it’s not nihilism – and there’s hope, but it’s not naivety”. Of “CUT_it” he had said it dealt with burnout, “the feeling of grinding through things when you’re completely spent, mentally and physically”.
The closing track, the one that shares the album’s name, they sing with Dayseeker: the same band they will tour Europe with. The previous album, “Obsidian”, is from 2022.
