Nordjevel have released “Unbound in Death”, with a video directed by Claudio Marino, as the first advance track from “Damnous”, out on 11 December through Season of Mist Underground Activists, catalogue number SUA163. It is the Norwegian band’s fourth album and their first for the label.
There are ten tracks: “O’Silent Hell”, “Funeral Prayer”, “Unbound in Death”, “Gospel of Wounds”, “Damnous”, “Violence Is Wisdom”, “Avgrunnsnatt”, “Starving Worms”, “Final Flesh” and “Pits of the Cold Beyond”. Guitars, bass and guest vocals were recorded at Studio Nyhagen with engineer Kjartan Hesthagen, and the mix and master are by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman. The cover art is by Khaos Diktator Design.
The band formed in Askim in 2015 around vocalist Doedsadmiral, who also writes the lyrics. The label’s own page lists Destructhor and Sagstad on guitars, John on drums and R. on live bass. Destructhor, who comes from Morbid Angel, Myrkskog and Zyklon, joined in the autumn of 2018 along with Dominator: this is the third album he plays on, after “Necrogenesis” (2019) and “Gnavhòl” (2022).
The lyrics are in Norwegian and English and deal with war, death, anti-Christianity and Norse mythology.
