Bassist and composer Matías Míguez presents “Swango” at Jamboree on Friday 2 October, at seven in the evening, tickets 18 €. The show is listed as sold out.
“Swango”, released in March 2026 through Temps Record, is his second album: eight compositions crossing jazz with tango. Míguez is Argentine and has lived in Catalonia for twenty-three years. None of the eight pieces come from the classic tango repertoire: they’re all his own compositions.
The quartet is rounded out by three musicians from the local scene: Pere Miró on saxophone, Alejandro Di Costanzo on piano and David Xirgu on drums. Xirgu, winner of the Catalan Jazz Musicians’ Association’s Best Drummer award in 1993, has played on the Barcelona scene ever since and teaches at ESMUC. Míguez plays electric bass rather than double bass.
