Kyle Eastwood plays Paral·lel 62 on Tuesday 10 November at half past eight in the evening, as part of the Festival de Jazz de Barcelona. He brings “Eastwood by Eastwood”, a programme that alternates film themes with pieces of his own.

The film themes are from his father Clint Eastwood’s pictures, and the festival’s listing names Ennio Morricone, Lennie Niehaus, Lalo Schifrin and John Williams. Eastwood has written some too: with Michael Stevens he scored “Letters From Iwo Jima” (2006), “Gran Torino” (2008) and “Invictus” (2009), and he contributed individual pieces to “Mystic River” and “Million Dollar Baby”.

The quintet is the usual one: Eastwood on double bass and electric bass, Andrew McCormack on piano, Chris Higginbottom on drums, Brandon Allen on saxophones and clarinet and Quentin Collins on trumpet and flugelhorn. All three official listings for the show spell the pianist’s name with an extra r.

Eastwood’s most recent album is “Eastwood Symphonic”, from 2023, on which the quintet plays with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. It is the second time he has done this: in 2019 he had already released “Cinematic”, also built on film themes.

He had played Barcelona on 26 November 2016, at Casino Barcelona, in the festival’s 48th edition. This year’s Spanish run opens on 1 November at the Teatro Isabel la Católica in Granada, goes on to the Auditorio elcírculo in Burgos on the 9th and ends in Barcelona: this is the only Catalan date.

The price appears neither on the venue’s page, nor the festival’s, nor The Project’s, and it only appears at checkout. Amics del Jazz members get 15% off.
