KK’s Priest have released a new version of “Never Satisfied” today, the song Judas Priest put on “Rocka Rolla” in 1974, sung by Tim “Ripper” Owens. It comes out through Exciter Records with Hellfire Thunderbolt, K.K. Downing’s own label, and for a limited time it can be downloaded free on Bandcamp.
It is not the same recording they put out in June 2025: this one is rebuilt, with drums by Sean Elg, rhythm guitars by Downing and A.J. Mills, and a new mix and master.
The video, directed by John Psaras, is what has brought the argument. A young Downing recreated with artificial intelligence steps off a bus with a guitar case and stops to look into a shop window. Many comments under the post criticise the use of what the press release calls “modern technology”.
The studio behind it, JPSR, defends it like this: “AI film today is where online video was twenty-six years ago – dismissed by the same rooms that will depend on it within a decade.”
On the two singers who have sung the song, Downing sets no hierarchy: he calls them “two great singers and performers”, says Rob Halford remains tied to the original versions and that Owens brings “a slightly different delivery and tone”.
KK’s Priest have not released an album since “The Sinner Rides Again”, in September 2023.
