“Pseudologia Fantastica” began life on stage: a 2025 BAN BAM commission from the Improvised Music Company, premiered by Christine Tobin at the New Music Dublin Festival that year. Now it’s an album, out on Trail Belle Records since 2 October: eighteen pieces, from under a minute to almost six minutes long.
Tobin sings, speaks the texts and plays keyboards, electronics and steel tongue drum (a metal drum with tongue-shaped slits); Kate Shortt plays cello, and Phil Robson guitar and electronics. Robson also produced and mixed the album. On the same label, Tobin had released “Returning Weather” in March 2023.
