The Violent Hour release “Pretty Girls Do Ugly Things” on 22 January 2027. It runs to eleven songs and is the first full-length by the band Carla Harvey fronts, after the self-titled EP that came out in July 2025 on Megaforce. John 5 plays on “Sick Ones” and Zakk Wylde on “Hell Or Hollywood”.

She wrote the record with Charlie Benante, the Anthrax and Pantera drummer, who on the EP had written all the music and played every instrument. “It’s almost the thesis for the whole record: good people can do ugly things, beautiful things can come from ugly places, and sometimes you have to get a little ugly to survive.”

The single is “Already Dead”. “‘Already Dead’ is about reaching a point where someone has put you through so much that they can’t hurt you anymore,” Harvey says. “There’s nothing left for them to take, and that can become its own kind of power.” The video is directed by Vicente Cordero and opens on an autopsy table: Harvey worked as an embalmer before music.

Harvey had founded Butcher Babies in 2010 with Heidi Shepherd and sang with them until July 2024, when the band announced the split. The Violent Hour’s live line-up is completed by Kiana De León on lead guitar, Allie Kay on rhythm guitar, Jewel Steele on bass and Sasha De León on drums.
