The Armin Jambor Quartet play Jamboree Sala 1, on Plaça Reial, on Wednesday 4 November, in two sets: one at seven in the evening and the other at half past eight. The listing does not say which of the two is the start of the concert. General admission is €20 and the show is promoted by the saxophonist himself, not by the venue: he has paid for the night himself, to premiere on Plaça Reial a record that cannot be bought yet, played by the four men who recorded it.

The quartet is Jambor on tenor saxophone, Mátyás Bartha on piano, Miloš Čolović on double bass and Oleg Markov on drums. Jambor, who is Hungarian and lives in Vienna, also writes the compositions.

The Jamboree programmes the show under hard bop and describes the music as lyrical melodies over worked-out compositions, with improvising that draws on both the European and the American jazz traditions. That description is the venue’s: the album is not out yet and none of it has been heard.

The repertoire is that of the debut album, “Touch & Fade”, which the quartet is to release this November with G2 and Sony Music. The venue gives no exact release day. Once it is out, the group take it on tour through Spain, Germany and Austria.
