The Professor Adrian Cunningham Soul Trio play the Harlem Jazz Club on two nights: Friday 23 October and Friday 13 November 2026. Doors and bar open at 20:00 and the concert starts at 23:00. Tickets are €13 and are sold through Entradium, which handles both dates under a single event.
The group is a classic organ trio: Adrian Cunningham on saxophone, flute and vocals, Abel Boquera on Hammond organ and Caspar Paludan on drums. The venue presents it as a run through the roots of rhythm & blues, soul, funk and jazz, from jazz and blues standards to the deepest soul grooves, with a nod to Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles and James Brown.
Cunningham was born in Australia and lives in New York. He plays the saxophones, clarinet and flute, and sings. He has played with Jon Batiste, Chris Potter and Wynton Marsalis, and has been a soloist at Carnegie Hall, at the Blue Note in New York and in Tokyo, at the Stravinsky Auditorium at Montreux and at the Sydney Opera House. He is a regular member of trombonist Wycliffe Gordon’s quintet.
Of his own records, the two that have travelled furthest are “Jazz Speak” — with Jeff Hamilton, John Clayton and Ted Rosenthal — and “Play Lerner and Loewe”, with the Fred Hersch trio and Randy Brecker: both reached the top twenty of the American jazz charts. With the other band he leads, Professor Cunningham And His Old School, which he formed in 2013 and which plays traditional New Orleans jazz, he won the World Jam in Madrid and the best band award at the Harlem Festival in Vilnius.
That other band is the one playing the rest of the Iberian run: 24 October at Swing Garraf and 6 and 7 November in Seville. The Harlem gets the trio.
The venue warns that a ticket does not reserve a chair or a table: the available seats are taken in order of arrival.
