“Tango” will be released on 27 November as a 10″ vinyl single strictly limited to five hundred copies worldwide. Side A holds the album version; side B, two previously unreleased recordings, “Tää Tango – Piano Demo” and “Tää Tango – Band Demo”, which are not available digitally and exist only on this vinyl. The video is out now, with Tarja and the three Apocalyptica cellists — Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso and Paavo Lötjönen — playing the piece.
The song is the seventh track on “Frisson Noir”, the singer’s tenth studio album, which came out on 12 June through earMUSIC, and it lasts 4.46.
“I wanted this song to be a special one, and as I have always loved the sound of the cello, Apocalyptica was the perfect artist to work with,” says Tarja. The band put it from the other side: “We have known Tarja since the mid-’90s and working with her has always been at the top of our list of featuring artists or collaborators.”
The Finnish title of the two demos is where the piece got its name: the first piano sketch was already called that. “Frisson Noir” also carries guest spots from Marko Hietala, Dani Filth and Chad Smith.
