Cover of “Come the Night”, the joint EP by Lau Noah and Michael League, out on GroundUP Music

“Come the Night”, the first joint release by Lau Noah and Michael League, came out yesterday on GroundUP Music. It holds six songs that move between English and Spanish, recorded in three days, and the instrumentation is acoustic guitar, voice and the occasional bass. The track that previewed it is “Where Silence Sings Along”.

Lau Noah is from Reus, in Catalonia, and lives in New York. In 2019 she became the first Catalan artist to play NPR’s Tiny Desk, and Bob Boilen, who created the format, wrote that “there’s a magical aura that surrounds Lau Noah” and that she “writes these thought-provoking song-stories that captured my heart”. She has an EP, “3” (2021); a first full-length, “A Dos” (2024) —a record of duets with Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Jorge Drexler, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Jacob Collier, Gaby Moreno and Chris Thile, among others—; and “The Way Under” (2025), with Adam Neely.

Michael League leads Snarky Puppy and founded GroundUP. The label calls it an unexpected collaboration and points to how little sits in between: two voices, one guitar and three days in the studio.
